Fernshaw is a section of the Yarra Ranges National Park in Victoria, Australia. It is full of lush rain forest, wild rivers, native animals and mystic aura. A hikers, photographers, and nature lovers recreational outdoor gallery. It is an area where you would have to make many visits to fully appreciate all that it has on offer. This is both recreationally and photographically.
On this visit in late Spring, I was only able to stop at a few places so there is not much variety on show here. However, I will make many return trips to capture more scenery. The highlights on this occasion were the Watts River and an area in lower Fernshaw full of lush ferns and vegetation where it had just rained. It made for great images of rain and mist giving parts of the forest a feeling of being in etheral other world.

Contrasting with the overwhelming serenity of the rain forest, Watts River is fast and wild. The vitality of nature here easily rejuvinates and inspires. There are a number of hiking trails to lead you deeper into the forest and closer to the resident creatures. Although I didn’t see any during my visit, I didn’t explore that much. However, there is a promise of the hope of further discovery here. You just feel it.
You also overwhelmingly feel the innate rawness and unspoiled beauty of the area. The potential for Time Lapse and Macro Photography is everywhere.
